You forget, 1) split national champions can still happen and 2) Scott Frost is still making asinine comments.

If this was the worst our offense will ever be this year (and if improvement will happen), then I'm ok with it.  If.

I have no problem with a game taking 4 hours as long as it is actual game time/coverage.  Adding 1-2 hours of media timeouts is a waste of my time.

09/17/2018 - 4:37pm The even greater problem is…

The even greater problem is that the ncaa keeps changing the rules to make the gameplay itself go faster with the nominal goal being to fit into nice, predetermined TV timeslots.  Unfortunately, this just gives more time for additional commercial breaks.

Not if it required abandoning ethics and integrity.  Prefer to lose with honor and class rather than win dirty, thanks.

I am still smiling about a non-Vanderbilt SEC team being blown out at home by North Texas.  Good win by the Mean Green.

I also watched on the BTN stream.  I refuse to go see that Cooper/Gaga movie now for that trailer alone.

Glad that Auburn lost, but I'm not a fan of anything that rewards the LSU "plantation style" management of their in-state players/schools.

I watched many other games today besides ours - strong pro-conference bias in officiating by the Big Ten (not much in our game though), Big 12 and ACC refs today.  I would prefer they move to a system like in MBB where the league asigns the refs, not the conferences

We aren't losing to Toledo or on the ropes against Akron or UConn anymore, so.... kind of?

I prefer night home games to night road games... but it seems that we get screwed on that too.

Seeing what Temple is currently doing to Maryland (at College Park)... really makes me wonder how bad Texas will be the rest of this season.

I still feel that this same level of performance would not win games against high end competition.  O-line especially.

Meant for this to be a thread post, not a diary - no way for me to change it that I can see (on mobile).  Not diary-worthy.  Sorry all, but clearly Nick Holt did not take his roids this week.

There were in a number of inaccuracies and hand-waving statements in the OP (do you really believe ND is going after kids from Indiana?), but I do believe that the OSU powers/influencers have been working to help kill Cincinnati's shot at joining a Power 5 conference (most likely Big 12, but possibly ACC).  It would create a more serious threat to their recruiting base, and they certainly have the resources and certain degree of... integrity... to take that kind of action (think of LSU and their degree of in state control).

09/02/2018 - 2:23pm I agree with this - the…

I agree with this - the fiery Harbaugh inspired more from his players and staff (and us as program supporters) than the calmer, subdued version we have now.  I don't care if the conference fines him for speaking out - the AD should pay it and tell him to keep it up.

09/02/2018 - 1:51pm In 30+ years of following…

In 30+ years of following NFL and CFB, an inescapable truth I've observed is that the best teams recruit and develop OL well.  As Lions fans know too well, you can bring in the hottest QB, RB, WR, etc. but it will mean nothing without a solid, dependable OL (with depth!)

Saw that Boise State now has a "Turnover Throne"... and they won.  That must be it - we need a turnover gimmick worthy of our program.  Maybe we can finally use that Macaroni Noodle that Dave Brandon wanted?

Not sure I would call Patterson his "hand picked QB" - the kid was playing his first game on a new team under a new-ish system (and a night road game in hostile territory to boot).  About the same as Ruddock's first start.  I was rather pleased with the performance of the QB that Harbaugh actually did hand pick and groom - McCaffrey.  That kid will be good very soon if the OL doesn't get him hurt.

09/02/2018 - 8:32am So many similarities to the…

So many similarities to the Utah game of 2015.  I like that we played a real team to open the season, but it would be nice if some of these other power teams were actually penalized somehow for scheduling cupcakes .

09/02/2018 - 8:17am ND got lucky on so many…

ND got lucky on so many plays that could have killed their drives -just seemed to be their night.  I think they will be harshly exposed when they play a strong team on the road (without ACC officiating either).  UM did itself no favors, but ND looked beatable.

Noticed that too.

09/02/2018 - 8:11am Did you even watch the…

Did you even watch the replay?  There was nothing "dirty" about the hit, but merely a last second move (likely by instinct to guard against the coming collision) that ultimately resulted in the contact being helmet-to-helmet.  There did not appear to be any ill intent in the hit, and I highly doubt that Mettelus was trying to "decapitate" the receiver - just an unfortunate play.  The punishment for the rule is unjust - one strike (even unintentional) and you're out.

08/26/2018 - 5:44pm With all of the absurdity…

With all of the absurdity shown by the other Big Ten east programs, I have gained even more respect for the integrity of the Indiana program.  To fire their most successful/promising football coach in decades because of the strong (yet not ironclad) indications of impropriety speaks volumes.  Unfortunately, hiring DeBord lost them much regard in terms of competency, but at least not ethics (aside from fiducial responsibility in paying him).
